The economic delegation consisting of the representatives of ten companies and institutions arrived to Seoul, South Korea, this Tuesday. The delegation is accompanying the Vice-President of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Ms. Tanja Fajon, and the Minister of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, Mr. Matjaž Han, on the occasion of their official visit to South Korea. Actively participating in the delegation, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS), Public Agency SPIRIT Slovenia, both Ministries and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Seoul, is the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, who – after visiting Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Singapore, as well as spending a working week in Brussels and Helsinki - is continuing this year's Asian tour of the business-investor programs of the VZMD: Invest to Slovenia (investo.si) and International Investors' Network (investo.international).

Yesterday, several B2B meetings took place, as well as the preparations for the presentations at the KOREA IMPORT FAIR - KIF 2023, which officially opened today and includes the Slovene booth showcasing the delegation members. The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia yesterday hosted a dinner as well as a meeting of the members of the delegation with both Ministers. Mr. Verbič took the opportunity to personally congratulate Minister Fajon for the successful campaign and election of the Republic of Slovenia as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. As he pointed out also during their previous meeting in Vietnam, the numerous visits of Slovene representatives all over the world undoubtedly are contributing to the success.

Mr. Verbič also highlighted numerous opportunities in the interest of the Republic of Slovenia, including the intense and widespread international activities of the VZMD and its involvement in various prominent organizations and bodies, and reiterated the willingness for a more substantial cooperation of this kind. In this vein, Mr. Verbič has been invited to speak at the WORLD LAW CONGRESS  at the UN headquarters, where he plans an additional initiative, adding to other initiatives and processes related to the efforts to establish the International Anti-Corruption Court.

Besides the meetings and the fair, Seoul also hosted today a seminar on the business environment and investment opportunities in Slovenia, organized by Public Agency SPIRIT and the Korean partner institution KOTRA. This evening, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia also held a reception on the occasion of the official opening and the National Day. The official part of the delegation's visit will conclude on Friday with a visit to the KIA research and development center.
