At this annual meeting, in parallel with the General Assembly of the WFI, the high profile conference titled "Why are individual investors still important partners for businesses" took place and was intertwined with round tables, some of which even addressed the current situation in Slovenia. At the first one, the question "Are individual investors in Europe endangered/extinct species" was addressed by the Managing Director of the European Federation of Investors (Better Finance), Mr. Guillaume Prache, WFI's Vice President and President of the Swedish Association for the Promotion of Shareholding, Mr. Lars-Erik Forsgart, Secretary General of the World Federation of Young Investors (WFYI), Ms. Elizavéta Lindström, and a member of the board of the French Financial Regulator (AMF), Mr. Christian Schricke. The second round table's topic regarding the approach to revival of individual investors was discussed by the EURONEXT's Executive Director, Mr. Anthony Attia, Secretary General of the European Federation of Employee Share Ownership, Mr. Marc Mathieu, Director of the German Investors' Association, Ms. Jella Benner-Heinacher, and the Executive Partner of Nextstage, Mr. Jean-David Haas. In addition to the international conference, there was a round table at the special reception for the 50th anniversary of F2iC, which addressed the future of investor clubs in the digital age.

All of the events and receptions were also attended by the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, including the opening of trading at the EURONEXT, Paris stock exchange, together with leading representatives of investors from 18 countries. Apart from numerous individual meetings, Mr. Verbič also seized this opportunity to efficiently present activities and opportunities of international business-investor programs of the VZMD – Invest to Slovenia (investo.si) and International Investors' Network (investo.international).

As part of the international tour of business-investor programs, the VZMD President, Mr. Verbič, will head to Havana to attend Cuba's largest general fair FIHAV which was planned by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia as part of the Slovene business delegation preparation. In 2017, the fair saw an attendance of 4,500 exhibitors from over 60 countries.
