With the arrival of Slovenia's Minister of the Economy, Tourism & Sport, Mr. Matjaž Han, in Shanghai on Sunday evening, a strong government & business delegation also arrived. Joining them was also the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, as part of the efforts of VZMD’s international business-investor programs: Invest to Slovenia (investo.si) & International Investors` Network (investo.international). Over the last three days, more than 50 members of the delegation — top representatives of Slovenian companies and institutions — were attending numerous business events. Among these the China International Import Expo, one of Asia’s largest trade fairs, along with a series of important meetings and gatherings.

Following the evening reception and dinner on Sunday, the official delegation program began on Monday with the China-Slovenia Business Conference. In addition to the Slovenian Minister (pictured with Mr. Verbič), the conference was addressed by Mr. Zhou Minhao, Chairman of the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) (pictured with Mr. Verbič). The conference featured an introduction of the Slovenian business delegation as well as an overview of Slovenia’s business and investment environment. During the event, Mr. Hanson Han, CEO of Hisense Europe, presented their success story in Slovenia, following the acquisition of Gorenje d.d., which was ultimately well-received also by minority shareholders.

The program continued with presentations focused on the automotive and pharmaceutical industries. On this occasion, a significant Cooperation Agreement was signed between Ms.Tanja Mohorič, Director of the Automotive Cluster of Slovenia (ACS), and Mr. Wang Yao, Vice Chief at the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). The investor conference concluded with B2B meetings that generated considerable interest also in VZMD's international activities. These discussions continued over a working lunch, and later on at a gala reception.

The Slovenian government & business delegation continued its activities on Tuesday with a high-profile bilateral meeting with China’s Vice Minister for Commerce and Economic Cooperation, Mr. Ling Ji (pictured with Mr. Verbič), who expressed appreciation for Slovenia’s stance on EU’s proposed automotive tariffs. The bilateral meeting highlighted Slovenian companies invested in China, such as UNIOR and KRKA, a long-standing partner of the VZMD’s international business-investor programs. Slovenia’s pavilion was ceremonially inaugurated at the China International Import Expo by Minister Han, marking another step toward enhancing Slovenian-Chinese business ties. Today and tomorrow, numerous further events are following with the EU-China CEO Summit, the China-Slovenia Connectivity Forum, the Dialogue on China-CEEC Digital Economic and Trade Cooperation, as well as visits to the National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE) and the companies NIO and Huawei…
