The end of last week, Texas, USA, saw the end of the official program of the economic delegation "Texas feels Slovenia" visit to Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and San Marcos, where the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, also actively participated. The visit was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce – AmCham Slovenia and SPIRIT Slovenia. Near the capital city of Austin, the members of delegation visited the electric vehicle factory TESLA Giga Factory, the largest factory in the world by floor area, where the futuristic vehicle Cybertruck is made. Before that, they visited the headquarters of the global technology company DELL, where they were received by John L. Howard Jr., the Director of Government Affairs and former counselor to the US President George Bush Jr. At the umbrella Texas chamber of commerce (TAB) another business forum "Texas Feels Slovenia" took place. The Slovenian delegation was received by its President Glenn Hamer, the President of the European-American Chamber of Commerce, Erin McKelveym, and the CEO of Tech Ranch, Kevin Koym.

 

In Austin, the members of the economic delegation also visited Q-branch, the global collaboration center and start-up innovation businesses accelerator, where they were received by its CEO Marcos A. Cervantes. The five-day official program was concluded with a visit to NOVEON MAGNETICS near San Marcos, where they met with the company’s chief technologist Mr. Miha Zakotnik; at the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, they attended the final business reception at the President and Vice-President of the chamber Jeff Webster and Jeff Fair, and also met Mr. Arne Baruca, the Slovenian professor of marketing at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

Texas, with a population of 30 million, is the second largest economy in the US; Slovenia is becoming more and more recognizable there also because of the achievements of the Slovene basketball player Luka Dončić. One of the events of this visit was also the regular NBA basketball game with the slogan "I Feel Slovenia Night", which took place on the first day of the delegation’s visit, directly after the business conference "Texas Feels Slovenia", where they were received by Dale Petroskey, the President of the Dallas Regional Chamber (DRC); the guests were also addressed by His Excellency Iztok Mirošič, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Washington. In Dallas, the delegation visited the Dallas Mavericks headquarters, where they were received by the Vice-President Billy Phillips, as well as the leading videogame technology company GEARBOX SOFTWARE, were they were received by the President of the company, Steve Joes, and the renowned law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, where they were received by the Director and Partner, Janice Z. Davis.

On Sunday, on invitation from Austin businessmen, his new acquaintances and friends, Mr. Verbič concluded the visit to Texas with a visit to the local vineyards and wineries in Fredericksburg, where they were, among others, received by the Director of Meierstone Vineyards, Krystal Patel.

Following the substantial and successful international activities in 2023 (VIDEO: https://youtu.be/Q50Xh8c27vk), this visit to Texas provided many opportunities to present the investment opportunities, activities and possibilities included in the international business-investor programs of the VZMD: Invest to Slovenia – investo.si and International Investors` Network – investo.international. As part of both programs, VZMD has carried out more than 75 international tours in the past 12 years  (VIDEO:https://youtu.be/IVoucn8EOcw) and has ensured active participation and presentation at more than 170 international business conferences and investor meetings in over 50 countries on 5 continents.
