This year's edition of the EUROPEAN CONSUMER SUMMIT 2023, held yesterday in Brussels by the EUROPEAN COMMISSION, took place under the heading "Next on the Consumer Agenda – moving ahead while managing multiple crises". This is a meeting at the highest level regarding the EU consumer protection. The guests were addressed by Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice, Erik Slottner, the Minister for Public Administration, Sweden, Alberto Garzón Espinosa, the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Spain, Monique Goyens, Director General of the European Consumer Organisation (BEUC), and many others.
The event was also attended by the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič (photo with Commissioner Reynders and BEUC Director General Goyens), who arrived in Brussels as early as Monday and attended the pre-conference dinner aimed at making acquaintances and networking. Alongside panels on inflation, costs of living, digitalisation, overall economic situation, as well as green transition and the "Vision for Consumer policy", the "Pledge Signing Ceremony for the Consumer Safety Pledge +" also took place yesterday. Later in the afternoon, 4 parallel workshops were held under the heading "Delivering on the digital and green transitions while successfully addressing crises and emerging issues".
