On Saturday, the commemoration of the 105th anniversary of the construction of the Russian chapel was held below the Vršič pass. Numerous high representatives of diplomacy, economy, politics and culture have traditionally participated in the commemoration. This time the Russian delegation was lead by the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Mr. Konstantin Kosachev, while the highest representatives from Slovenia, the president of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Zdravko Počivalšek and many members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia also attended.

In his address, the minister Počivalšek emphasized that Slovenia could be "the point of friendship and peace" and could take the role of the facilitator. The remembrance of the events during World War I when a snowslide below Vršič buried Russian prisoners of war, which is now commemorated by the Russian chapel, is "an opportunity to contemplate peace and how to maintain it".

The commemoration and meeting that followed in Kranjska gora, was traditionally also attended by the VZMD President Mr. Kristjan Verbič at the invitation of the organizers. He used this opportunity to establish and strengthen friendship, cultural, and business ties. Additionally, he invited economy representatives to participate in the International Investor Conference, which is organized on 13 September by VZMD and the European Federation of Investors (BETTER FINANCE) in Bled and elsewhere in Slovenia. Within the international business-investor programs of the VZMD - Invest to Slovenia (investo.si) and International Investors' Network (investo.international), Mr. Verbič has participated in economic delegations to Moscow (in 2013 and 2015) and Yaroslavl in 2014, while he has also participated several times in the renowned Gaidar Forum, often referred to as the Russian Davos.
